How to Set Up Remote Desktop (RDP) on Windows VPS from SkyITVPS

After renting a Windows VPS server, the first thing you need to do is set up a Remote Desktop (RDP) connection. This will allow you to manage the server as if you were sitting at a regular computer. In this article, we will walk you through how to set up RDP on a VPS from SkyITVPS.

Step 1: Obtain connection details

After creating a VPS in your SkyITVPS control panel, you will receive an email with the following details:

• 🌐 Server IP address (e.g., 185.xxx.xxx.xxx)
• 👤 Username (usually Administrator)
• 🔑 Password (system-generated)
• 🔌 RDP port (standard 3389, or changed for security)

Step 2: Connect via RDP on Windows

1. Press Win + R on your computer
2. Type mstsc and press Enter
3. In the "Computer" field, enter the server IP address: 185.xxx.xxx.xxx
4. Click "Connect"
5. Enter your username and password
6. Confirm the connection (certificate)

Step 3: Connect via RDP on macOS

1. Download Microsoft Remote Desktop from the App Store
2. Open the app and click "Add PC"
3. Enter the server IP address
